Jim Ward, a prolific voice actor whose versatility graced Nickelodeon staples like Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, as well as a wide array of video games, has passed away at the age of 66.
Ward’s death was announced by his former radio co-host and longtime friend Stephanie Miller, who shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Ward died on Wednesday and that colleagues would spend the morning honoring his brilliance. Miller had first revealed the news the previous day, describing it as one of the saddest messages she had ever received from the esteemed Mr. Ward. Ward frequently appeared as a guest and co-host on Miller’s syndicated talk show from 2004 to 2021.
Ward’s wife, Janice Ward, told TMZ that he died due to complications from advanced Alzheimer’s disease and had been receiving treatment in Los Angeles.
Beyond his impersonations on Miller’s program, Ward’s most enduring fame comes from his voice work across a broad spectrum of characters. Fans remember him as the real estate magnate Doug Dimmadome, proprietor of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome, and as the relentless news anchor Chet Ubetcha on The Fairly OddParents. He also contributed voices to series including My Life as a Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, The Replacements, and numerous other animated programs. In 2009, he earned a Daytime Emmy for his work on the revival of Biker Mice From Mars.

He is especially renowned for voicing Captain Qwark, the spacefaring hero in Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank series—from the original game’s 2002 debut through its 2016 re-release and the subsequent sequels and shorts.
His list of gaming credits also includes early appearances in Call of Duty, Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy XIII, BioShock 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and numerous licensed tie-ins for television and film projects.
