Stephanie Kelly, a star from Fair City, is eager for her fellow cast members to join her in the exciting world of Dancing with the Stars. Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, Kelly expressed her enthusiasm for the competition and named three of her co-stars whom she believes would shine on the dance floor.
In her role as Sash Bishop on Fair City, Kelly has found that participating in Dancing with the Stars alongside her professional partner, Ervinas Merfeldas, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career thus far. When asked which actors she would like to see trade their familiar Carrigstown surroundings for the glitz and glamour of the dance show, Kelly enthusiastically named Emily Lamey, who portrays Gwen, Joe Hanley, who plays Hughie, and George McMahon, known for his role as Mondo. "They’re three stars I’d love to see take part. I really think they’d do amazingly well! But whether they’ll actually sign up is another story!"
Adding a lighthearted touch to the conversation, Kelly jokingly mentioned that she and Merfeldas are brainstorming a storyline for Fair City in which he would portray Sash’s long-lost brother, showcasing their fun camaraderie.
Meanwhile, the dynamic duo is set to perform a "spooky Salsa" routine to the track 'Evacuate the Dancefloor' by Cascada this Sunday during the special Fright Night episode. They are looking to avoid being in the first dance-off of the season, raising the stakes even higher.
Despite the pressure and physical demands of the show, Kelly is thoroughly enjoying the experience. "I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished. Honestly, I never expected to get this far!" she shared, reflecting on her journey. "I remember telling Ervinas, ‘I just don’t want to be the first contestant eliminated! If I can make it to the second week, I’d be thrilled!’ And now, here I am, halfway through the competition!"
Looking back, she expressed disbelief at how far she's come this year: "If someone had told me last year that I’d be dancing on television this year, I would have laughed out loud! Like, ‘What?! No way!’ The fact that I'm doing this makes me feel incredibly proud, and I’m also extremely grateful for this amazing opportunity that has come my way."
Tune in to Dancing with the Stars every Sunday at 6:30 PM on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player to catch all the excitement.
