Brody Exits Mornings At WMTX
After six years in the morning slot at iHeartMedia AC station Mix 100.7, WMTX Tampa, Nathan ‘Brody’ Halegua has departed the station.
Brody joined WMTX in April 2019 to co-host mornings with Laura Diaz. He has been anchoring the timeslot solo since Diaz resigned in September to pursue a position outside the industry. Prior to WMTX, he spent eleven years with the iHeartMedia Tampa cluster hosting nights on CHR station 93.3 WFLZ from 2014 until his move to WMTX. His broadcasting résumé also includes on-air roles at WFKS in Jacksonville, WJHM in Orlando, WKSS in Hartford, WXXL in Orlando, and KUPL in Portland.
In a message shared on Instagram, Brody wrote about stepping away from the microphone for a while. He reflected on a nearly six-year, record-breaking period with Mix and expressed deep gratitude to listeners and partners. He thanked the audience for showing up every morning, highlighting the support, laughter, and loyalty that meant a great deal to him. He described the experience as a privilege and said those connections would never be taken for granted.
Brody noted that the exit isn’t his envisioned ending and admitted it wasn’t an easy goodbye. He conveyed gratitude for the opportunities he received, pride in his work, and a strong belief in his own worth. He said he has grown both personally and professionally and is confident he will land where he’s meant to be next. He added that everything happens for a reason and hinted that this marks the start of a new chapter.
At the time of reporting, WMTX had not announced plans for mornings. Meanwhile, a former Tampa-area morning show is teasing a market return with an announcement set for Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
