Baby Ru, a toddler with the official name Nga Reo Te Huatahi Reremoana Ahipene-Wall, met a brutal end on October 22, 2023, at Hutt Hospital. The cause of death was blunt force trauma so severe it fractured his skull. Three individuals, Rosie Morunga, Dylan Ross, and the child's mother, Storm Wall, all residents of the same house on Poole Street, are persons of interest in this case.
The silence from Morunga and Ross since the homicide investigation began is notable. Meanwhile, Storm Wall, who vehemently denies any involvement, has expressed her willingness to assist the investigation, longing for the day justice is served.
"It's a day that I lost my heart... I will never forget. It's like your life flashes before your eyes... It was a living hell," Wall poignantly shares, describing the day her son died.
Pritchard describes the case as "very complex," with the investigation team, dubbed Operation Huia, facing challenges despite their steadfast dedication to finding justice for Baby Ru and his family. He urges those present in the house at the time of the tragedy to come forward, emphasizing the importance of doing the right thing, especially for a vulnerable child who relied on adults for his well-being.
"You've got a whānau who've lost a valuable member of their family... It's never too late to do the right thing. I'm sure the guilt is building up inside them. So, come forward and tell us what happened."
