Ambition Takes Center Stage at NYUAD's Career Fair: A Transformative Experience
On October 30th, NYU Abu Dhabi's campus buzzed with anticipation as students, adorned in their finest formal attire and armed with freshly printed CVs, converged at the East and West Forums for the semestral Career Fair. Organized by the Career Development Center (CDC), this event was a pivotal moment, uniting a diverse array of companies eager to recruit NYUAD students for internships and graduate positions.
This year's fair marked a significant departure from previous iterations. In the past, students had expressed frustration over firms that weren't actively hiring. However, after the Student Government raised these concerns with the CDC, substantial improvements emerged. Every company at the fair this year confirmed their recruitment efforts, offering students a genuine opportunity to advance their careers.
The fair showcased a diverse range of industries, from engineering and investment to media and technology. The lineup included prominent companies such as AD Ports Group, ADNOC, AIR Q Limited, AlphaSights, Anton Oilfield Services Group, Du, Hilti Middle East, JLL, Mubadala Investment Company, Property Shop Investment (PSI), Qlub, Sheikh Shakhboot Medical City (SSMC), Tabby, TII, and Visa, among others. Many of these companies offered both internship and full-time roles, providing students across various academic years with a diverse array of career paths to explore.
The CDC also organized a professional photoshoot, allowing students to capture high-quality headshots that could be used to update their LinkedIn profiles and applications. Recruiters engaged in insightful conversations with students, delving into career aspirations, internship timelines, and application strategies. Second-year student Aydariya Dzhusupova shared her positive experience, stating, 'This year's Career Fair companies are superior to those in the past. The overall organization and atmosphere were excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.' Her sentiment resonated with many students who attended the event.
